For the safety and reassurance of her clients, Frances carries Public Liability Insurance under the umbrella of the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides.
Blue Badge Guides are trained and examined by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. The training is detailed and comprehensive, and the examinations rigorous.
As well as acquiring knowledge, Blue Badge Guides are trained in the selection and presentation of material.
This has been so successful that English trainers have trained guides all over the world, and the Blue Badge is recognised internationally. Frances is qualified to train new guides on site and in towns to all levels.
Frances Farrer-Brown was born and brought up on a mixed farm. Rural affairs, the countryside, gardens, history and literature have always been an abiding interest.
Frances is a qualified nurse, and has been married to David, a retired GP, for over thirty years. They met while both were training at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, and have two grown up children. Frances and David run a very successful part-time bed and breakfast business from the family home in West Sussex.
In addition to and complementing her skills as a public speaker, in 1999 Frances became a qualified and registered Blue Badge Tourist Guide.
The Blue Badge is the British national standard guiding qualification and an internationally recognised bench mark of excellence.
